The True Value of Time

Even though I have been a creative person all of my life, I do hit walls. There are times when I just cannot pull an idea out of my head. I fear the development stage the most. Trial and error can be so demoralizing. It happened with the butterfly earrings. My initial design was not do-able. My plan B is nice. Im going with it. I came to Plan B by taking a walk.

The high of a new design loosened the reigns. And my good friend who pushed me to do the Butterfly earrings also pushed me to do the Trillium Flower. It was also a process of trial and error. Some of that process was posted on my Instagram over the last few weeks. I took time to develop this design. The first step was allowing the time. I wanted to have the design finished before trillium season was over. Trillium might still be blooming at higher elevations, but here in the Willamette Valley, they are done. What a fabulous season it was. My friend and I had our last official Sunday hike in late March and the trail was lined with trillium, so beautiful. Mother Nature was urging me too. I allowed my self to be a little late. Giving myself time allowed me to play and figure out what worked.

So the Trillium Flower Earrings are my latest. Another good friend, who is also a jewelry maker, gave me a good idea for a simpler variation too. And then, something clicked and I thought of a variation for my Cherry Blossom earrings and pendant. Ideas come all the time! Having the willingness to follow through is the challenge. But like most things, the first step is the hardest. Once you get going, ideas flow, process flows, you loose the sense of time and creation takes hold. I love that. I live for that. Take the time. "Time is a created thing. To say 'I dont have the time', is like saying 'I don't want to'. - Lao Tzu
